Named after the 10 million year old reef embankment it overlooks, The Reef apartments by Wangard partners has furthered the redevelopment of a former blighted industrial area east of the growing downtown Wauwatosa area with an attractive New Urbanism style development. Bookended by 4 story apartment buildings, SPSA designed the compact central portion of the development with four 18 unit 2-story walk-up apartment buildings with both attached and detached garages. The juxtaposition placement of the building creates attractive central green public courtyard space which allow views and access to the Reef. The architecture was designed to be more urban and contemporary with the use of flat roofs which is anchored with buff colored limestone to reflect the nature of the Reef with a cement fiber siding accent material punctuated with large windows and patio doors and separate unit entrances. The unit mix consists of a variety of sizes from studio, one-bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom units to appeal to a full market spectrum of potential tenants.
